About Prompt Teardown
Prompt Teardown is a weekly newsletter about AI prompts that actually work. Every issue takes one real prompt, shows the line that carries it, names the gap, and hands you a fixed version you can paste.
It started in April 2026 because most prompt advice is a screenshot with no reasoning attached. You can copy a screenshot. You cannot learn from one.
What a teardown is
A teardown is three things in order. Why it works, so you can see the mechanism. One gap, because every prompt has one. A simple fix, so the next prompt you write yourself is better.
The prompt block does the heavy lifting. The writing around it stays short on purpose.
Who writes it
One person. I run a boutique marketing agency for B2B businesses, and I write these prompts because I use them in real client work first. If a prompt has not survived a real deadline, it does not go in an issue.
Nothing here is generated and shipped unread. Every prompt in the archive was run, broken, and rewritten before it was published. When something fails, the issue says so.
Model-agnostic on purpose
Any week, the example could be Claude, GPT, Gemini, or something newer. The focus is the prompt, not the platform. A prompt that only works on one model is a trick, not a skill. Read how to write AI prompts that actually work for the underlying pattern.
Where to start
- How to use this newsletter, if you are new here.
- The full prompt library, sorted by topic.
- The archive, every issue in order.
- Free tools, prompt generators you fill in and paste.
How it is funded
The newsletter is free. It is paid for by sponsors, by affiliate links on some tools I use myself, and by display advertising on the site. Sponsored placements are always labelled. A sponsor never gets to pick the prompt or edit the teardown.
As of July 2026 the list is 4,138 subscribers, all grown organically with no paid acquisition. If you want to reach them, the sponsor page has rates and formats.
